Coats, blankets offered for ‘Keep Lenawee Warm’ event

A local charity is working to make sure those in need have coats and blankets to keep warm this winter.

LENAWEE COUNTY, MI (Toledo News Now) - Alocal charity is working to make sure those in need have coats andblankets to keep warm this winter.

AssociatedCharities of Lenawee opened their doors to county residents Thursday and Fridayas part of an annual event called "Keep Lenawee Warm."

Hundredsof people were expected to stop by for jackets, hats, mittens and blanketsduring the two-day event. The winter gear was donated by other residents in thecommunity and local organizations. It was then cleaned by Adrian dry cleaners.

"We'vealready had people in, thanking us, [saying] that they didn't have a wintercoat," said Delight Creech, executive director of Associated Charities ofLenawee. "I had a lady in today that she just had a sweatshirt…so she was soappreciative. So we are making a difference."

Lastyear, they helped provide more than 900 people with a winter coat.
