Brokers: It’s still a buyers’ market!

Brokers in the area say the government shutdown has not caused any long-term effects for the Toledo housing economy, although there was some initial concern.

(Toledo News Now) - Brokersin the area say the government shutdown has not caused any long-term effectsfor the Toledo housing economy, although there was some initial concern.

Duringthe shutdown, USDA loans were not being processed, and at the time, newapplications for FHA loans were also affected. But brokers say the shutdown didnot last long enough to have a permanent affect.

Theysay the housing market was just starting to pick back up before the shutdown. Now they hope the shutdown doesn't discourage consumers from purchasing a home.

"Theissue hasn't completely gone away, but certainly for now it's a good thing,"said John Mangas, a broker and partner at Re/Max Preferred Associates. "It getsconsumers back in a position where they're feeling comfortable going forwardagain."

Brokerssay it is still a buyers' market, and it's a great time to buy a house.
