WOOD COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Whether someone is struggling to find a job or living paycheck to paycheck, Project Homeless Connect in Wood County can help.

The program offers eye care, dental work, groceries, clothing and even hair cuts for free. One room is designated for interview clothing to help people looking for work.

Brittani Burnat says the event could not have come at a better time for her family.

"We stay strong no matter what, and this is helping us stay even stronger," she said. "We're getting the help; the job will come. We just gotta keep moving forward. We can't let the little things in life tear us down."

Organizers say if they help just one person, it makes the program worthwhile.

"We have follow-up appointments with providers, so there is an expectation that, ‘Hey, we're gonna see you Thursday,'" said Jennifer Kephart, executive director of Project Homeless Connect. "Psychologically, that makes a huge difference in all of us, when we're expected to be seen and [to know] that we are welcome."

Burnat says she's grateful to know there are so many people that care.
