North Baltimore sewer project leaves large hole due to government shutdown

NORTH BALTIMORE, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Residents of North Baltimore have been left frustrated after the government shutdown caused construction crews to abandon a sewer project.

The project is funded by an $8.7 million loan from the US Department of Agriculture.  Part of the construction has left a large hole next to a school zone and in front of people's homes.  Because of the shutdown, the hole has been left unattended for nearly 3 weeks.

"You can't go down any street that isn't rooted up," said North Baltimore resident Dave Smith.  "The alleys are the best roads we've got in town right now."

Construction equipment has been abandoned along the side of the road, and is anticipated to remain that way until the shutdown ends.
