Lane restrictions coming to prepare for Anthony Wayne Bridge project

Lane restrictions will begin Wednesday to prepare for construction on the Anthony Wayne Bridge.

(Toledo News Now) - Lane restrictions will begin Wednesday to prepare for construction on the Anthony Wayne Bridge.

Starting Wednesday at 7 a.m., drivers can expect lane restrictions on the bridge. Traffic will be cut down to one lane in each direction. The restrictions will last until 5 p.m. daily for this part of the project, which is expected to last until December.

ODOT crews will be installing the safety platforms to prepare for the rehabilitation of the bridge. The project will include re-decking, new street lighting and rebuilding the sidewalks, railings and fence.

ODOT officials warn drivers to expect some delays.

"You will see heavier traffic flow, especially through the peak hours, but for the most part, you still will be able to have that access from downtown to east Toledo," said Theresa Pollick, an ODOT spokesperson.

The rehabilitation project is expected to begin next spring and last for 19 months. The bridge will be shut down during that time.
