TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Production of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee began more than three months ago inside Chrysler's Toledo Assembly Complex, and by now, dealers were hoping to have them on their lots ready to sell.

Denny Amrhein with Grogan's Towne says while he hasn't received any negative feedback from customers, he's telling them to be patient.

"We just basically tell them they're not going to bring this car out until it's right," he said. "They're going to do the launch right. When it gets here, when you get your car, you're going to be happy with it."

Chrysler released this statement regarding efforts to smooth out transmission concerns:

"Chrysler Group is in the final stages of validating the updated powertrain calibrations. The company will not ship vehicles until we are fully satisfied the Cherokee meets customer expectations for performance, refinement and quality. The 2014 Jeep Cherokee has an all-new nine-speed transmission, two new powertrains, three advanced four-wheel-drive systems and has undergone more than 14 million test miles in order to ensure the vehicle meets our highest quality standards. Once the latest powertrain calibration is validated, the company will be able to quickly update the powertrain software on Cherokees already built and ship vehicles to dealerships around the country in quantity."

Amrhein says Chrysler is doing the right thing by holding off releasing vehicles until all concerns are ironed out.

"To have to bring it back after the customer takes delivery and have some issues, I think that's the worst thing in the world to do because that customer probably is not going to come back if they've never been in a Jeep before," he said.
