OREGON, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Mercy St. Charles Hospital is celebrating 60 years of health, healing and wellness in the Oregon community.

Ten years ago, the hospital created a healing garden to celebrate their 50th anniversary. Now, they're re-dedicating it. The garden was constructed for patents and family members to have a place to reflect while visiting the hospital. A blessing at the garden was held for the 60th anniversary.

The hospital also gave away 200 free flu shots to the community on a first come, first serve basis as part of the celebration.

Officials at Mercy St. Charles say they believe the hospital has been a cornerstone in Oregon because they have had multiple generations of staff, physicians and patients who have been part of its history.

"It showcases our mission and our commitment to the community," said CEO Jacalyn Liebowitz. "For Mercy, we have had a tradition for over 157 years, and a connection with the northern Toledo area."

The hospital is a level three trauma center, and the only trauma center in Oregon.
