Whitehouse hopes roundabout will reduce accidents at busy intersection

WHITEHOUSE, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Village of Whitehouse is hoping a roundabout will reduce the number of accident at a busy intersection. A traffic circle will be built at the intersection of State Route 64 and Finzel Road thanks to a $2 million grant.

"It's the number one traffic hazard. It's the number one area in Whitehouse where there are accidents. And usually when there's an accident it's severe," said Village Administrator Jordan Daugherty.

Daugherty says the roundabout will force drivers to slow down, hopefully reducing accidents.

At least on village resident worries the traffic circle could still be a hazard, especially during heavy traffic.

"During busy times Like a football game or something it could potentially be a little too much action and confusion for this type of road," said resident Janna Buck.

Construction on the roundabout is expected to be completed sometime in 2015.
