CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

A taxi driver thrown in the trunk of his cab in September 2012 and driven around Cincinnati died from the injuries he received, and the man police say is responsible could be facing more charges.

Investigators say cab driver Mulugeta Shiferaw went missing on September 8, 2012, after being dispatched to pick up Charles Black somewhere in the downtown/Over-the Rhine area.

Police say at some point, Black locked Shiferaw in the trunk of the cab and kept him there for approximately 10 hours.

The police were contacted when Shiferaw's fellow cabbies could not locate him.

Police pursued the vehicle twice for a total of approximately 22-24 minutes and finally stopped the cab at approximately 7 p.m. when Black crashed in Elmwood.

Police say Black ran from the cab but the police were able to apprehend him at 601 Township in Elmwood.

Shiferaw was found in the trunk of the cab with serious injuries. He was hospitalized after the incident and died from his injuries on August 22, nearly one year after the incident.

On Monday, the Hamilton County Coroner ruled his death a homicide.

Black was convicted in May of Kidnapping, Felonious Assault and the Aggravated Robbery and was sentenced to 55 years in prison.

The Homicide Unit is working with the Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office regarding additional charges against Black.
