Good Samaritan leads Ohio in baby deliveries

CLIFTON HEIGHTS, OH (FOX19) -

TriHealth's Good Samaritan Hospital delivered more babies in 2012 than any other hospital in Ohio.

According to hospital officials, Good Samaritan delivered 6,351 newborns last year. This was the seventh consecutive year the hospital has led the state in deliveries.

The data was compiled by the Ohio Department of Health and the Office of Vital Statistics.

TriHealth's Bethesda North was the only other Cincinnati hospital listed in the top ten in 2012, raking #8 with 4,134 baby deliveries.

"It is an honor to again have attained this distinction and we are gratified our community has entrusted us with the privilege of being the place where more babies are born than anywhere else in Ohio," said Lori Uphaus, Administrator for Women's Services at TriHealth. "It is a reflection of the excellent quality and unsurpassed dedication of our physicians, midwives, nursing and support staff who have the knowledge and experience to provide whatever care is necessary, never forgetting that each and every birth is so very special."

Good Samaritan delivered 201 sets of twins and 20 sets of triplets during the year. Hospital officials said female births outnumbered the males by 229.

In addition, 39 babies born safely were named Emma, 36 named William, 35 newborns named Mason, 33 named Benjamin and 29 babies each named Lilly and Grace.

Good Samaritan Hospital is located at 375 Dixmyth Avenue. Click here to visit their pregnancy and childbirth page.
