Findlay's first Race for the Cure exceeds expectations

FINDLAY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Thousands of people spent the weekend in Findlay for the city's first ever Race for the Cure.

Monday was clean-up day in Findlay. Organizers say they didn't expect such a big turnout for the Flag City's inaugural race – an anticipated 1,500 people turned into 3,100. There were 200 survivors and 800 timed runners. The rest were walkers.

Organizers say they're already planning for 2014.

"We really want to be able to reach out and draw in additional counties, and make this just a bigger and better race," said Karen Cline, chair of the Findlay race. "[We want to] raise more money and provide more services for men and women in this area."

The goal this year was to raise $155,000. As of Monday, the total raised was $236,000.
