Demolition begins on Lime City School

PERRYSBURG TOWNSHIP, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Theold Lime City School is set to come down.

Theformer school has been sitting vacant on State Route 20 and Lime City Roadsince the 1990s.

Somedemolition has already begun. Old students are trying to capture the momentbefore the building is completely knocked down. They say the former elementaryschool is part of their local history.

Thebuilding has been there since the 1950s, and only had four classrooms. Aftersitting vacant for 20 years, it has become an eyesore for the community.

Noplans have been made for what will happen with the property after demolition,but neighbors are chiming in about what they would like to see.

"Stufffor kids," suggested Barbara Gunn, who would like to see a park there. "It'sclose to the police station so older kids couldn't hang out there and causeproblems."

Anyonelooking to pick up a memento of the building can stop by and pick up a brick.Township officials are giving them away, but current residents get priority.

    Toledo Police are investigating a downtown Toledo bank robbery. Police said a man robbed the Huntington bank earlier on Friday afternoon. Witnesses then said the man started walking down the street and was handing out money to people saying it was God's work.
