There are two Komen Race for the Cure events this weekend – in Findlay and Toledo, but on Friday, people across the area showed the power of pink in a variety of ways.

The community sported pink to show support for those affected by breast cancer. Participants included local schools, sports teams, and many businesses.

The Criminal Clerk's Office in Toledo Municipal Court was "Team Sonya" on Friday. For the second year, coworkers of Sonya Jones have shown their support for the 16-year cancer survivor. They have 67 people signed up for Sunday's race this year.

"It makes me feel really good, and it makes me want to cry," Sonya said.

Select restaurants in Toledo and Findlay are offering a special deal, ‘Dine out for the Cure.' If race participants eat at the restaurants wearing their race gear, a portion of the proceeds will go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

"The end of the race is conveniently located caddy-corner to our establishment," said Julie Ketterman from Ye Olde Durty Bird. "So we have full staff on. Our kitchen opens at 11 a.m. on Sunday, and we are all hands on deck and ready for a big day and expecting a great turnout."
