Dog warden turns to euthanasia for overcrowding

WOOD COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Acontroversial email has many people in Wood County upset.

TheWood County Dog Warden sent an email to volunteers and rescue organizationssaying eight dogs would be euthanized by the end of the week if they were notadopted. Andrew Snyder, the warden, says he was following procedure.

Snydersays the email was sent because there wasn't enough space for the dogs. Thereare 24 pens at the Wood County Dog Warden's office, but earlier this week,there were 28 dogs.

Volunteerssay not everything is being done to get these animals a permanent home, bugSnyder says that's not true.

"Inthe list that we sent out, we indicated dogs that could use some additionalpublication, both on Facebook and Petfinder," he said.

Eightdogs were adopted and the euthanasia was canceled, but the warden says thereare still many dogs searching for a home.
