Rash of attempted abductions reported in Euclid

EUCLID, OH (WOIO) -

The Euclid board of education and police department are working together to investigate a series of attempted child abductions in the city.

Police say all three incidents occurred in the city's northwest quadrant in the East 200th/East 222nd corridor. The latest alleged incident happened on Thursday morning.

Tamika Henderson-Black tells 19 Action News her children have been  approached by the suspect twice. Once on Tuesday, September 3rd, and again Thursday, September 26th.

As the children were walking, a van pulled up to them and a man asked them if they, "wanted a ride" or he told them to, "get in the van."

The children refused and ran off. None of the children were harmed.

In addition to Tamika's children, Euclid police also mention a third attempted abduction by a suspect in a report.

A similar suspect description was given in all three instances. Police describe the suspect as being a white male, possibly in his 40's to 50's, with light colored, un-kept hair. He was described as having a light colored "scruffy" beard, and wearing a green baseball cap.

In one instance police also say the white male was accompanied by two African-American males who were wearing hooded sweatshirts with the hoods pulled over their heads. No further information is available about these two males.

The suspect's vehicle involved is described as an "older" white van, with silver or gray bumpers. The van is believed to be a work/panel type van with either no windows in the rear cargo area, or white-painted windows in the rear cargo area. The van was also described as having blue writing, and a picture of a sun on the side with two ladders on a roof-rack.

The school district sent out an "all call" Wednesday evening reminding parents to talk to their children about safety.

Sometimes to get through life’s toughest moments, what you need most is a friend. For one brave girl, that friendship was found in a Wauseon firefighter. Brooklen is an 11-year-old girl who was born with schizencephaly, a form of cerebral palsy.
