(WMC-TV) - Neighbors fear a string of thefts in Davies Plantation may be tied to a detour. Neighbors say the crimes coincide with a road closure in Bartlett and that increased traffic, meaning more visibility for thieves.

Bill Butner's 1922 Model T was bought brand new by his grandfather. But Butner's been unable to haul the old Ford to classic car shows since a trailer was stolen right out of his driveway.

"We've never had this problem until the present time," said Butner.

According to Bartlett Police reports, at least seven thefts have occurred over the last month.

Rick Fear's trailer was stolen just a few doors down.

"Got up one morning and went to work, came back from work, and the trailer's gone," said Fear.

Butner say the thieves are going into utility sheds and stealing lawn equipment.

Residents say the thefts did not start until a road was closed. Brunswick Road, just south of Ellis, is being altered.

The detour takes traffic into the adjoining neighborhood where thefts have been reported.

"We never had any problems before the detour came through. So, all signs point in that direction," said Fear.

Residents say they have seen unmarked cars watching as well.

"One of the reasons I moved out here was not to worry about stuff like that too much, but it's spreading. I can't do nothing about it," said Fear.

Anyone with information on this crime spree should call Bartlett Police, who recommend you keep all property properly locked up.

After double overtime, the Toledo Walleye came out on top and beat the Indy 3-2 Thursday night for a sweep in the series. Even though the fish had a 3-0 lead in the first round playoff series, the toughest thing to do in hockey is to beat a desperate team on their home ice.  Halfway through a second overtime Kyle Bonis sets up Christian Hillbrich to score the game winning goal.  The Walleye now advances to the second round.
