GARFIELD HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) -

Garfield Heights Animal Warden Ed Jamison is running the Akron and Columbus marathon races to benefit The Rescue Inn and Forever Friends Foundation, both animal rescue organizations that have saved and found homes for hundreds of local cats and dogs.

"These two groups have invested thousand and thousands of dollars into the animals of Garfield Heights," Jamison said. "Donations will show these groups how much people here appreciate the help they have given to our community. I get asked a lot, 'how can I help?' and this is one way to show support."

The animal warden plans to finish both 26.2-mile marathons, scheduled for Sept. 28 in Akron and Oct. 20 in Columbus. He is seeking per-mile sponsorships or flat donations. Whatever he raises will be split between the two rescue groups. Jamison's goal is $2,000.

Send pledges or donations to The Garfield and Maple Heights Animal Rescue Team at 13205 Eastwood Ave., Garfield Heights, OH, 44125.
