Video game thieves caught after Oregon store robbed

OREGON, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A couple of thieves broke into a local business, but they didn't go for cash.

Oregon Police say Allied Record Exchange was broken into early Monday morning. They say the store manager received a call about the store's alarm being set off. When the manager arrived, he noticed that the front door was broken.

"They smashed into two doors – the front door and the entry door – with an unknown object," said Det. Lawrence George of the Oregon Police. "They stole a bunch of gaming consoles and a bunch of DVDs."

Hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise was taken, but the most notable things was the new Grand Theft Auto video game. Five copies were stolen.

Det. George says he put a call in at a local game store in an effort to track the thieves down. Ironically, a man and a juvenile were inside that very story while he was on the phone, trying to pawn the stolen goods. The store owner stalled the two.

Moments later, police arrested James Ashaby and the juvenile, and charged them with breaking and entering.
