TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Toledo Police say one person was shot and killed in north Toledo early Tuesday afternoon.

Police say Andrew Anderson, 31 of Toledo, was shot and killed in the alley behind a home in the 1500 block of Elm Street early Tuesday afternoon.

Anderson was shot, walked a short distance down the alley and collapsed, according to police. An ambulance rushed the Anderson to a nearby hospital, but he did not survive.

Police are still searching for the gunman. Detectives are also trying to determine a motive and how many shots were fired. They say it's still very early in their investigation.

"We are talking to some people in the neighborhood, trying to determine if they have seen or hear anything in regards to this crime. It appears though, that the victim was outside in front of the building, on the sidewalk when he was shot," said Sgt. Joe Heffernan with the Toledo Police.

Heffernan says this is the city's 20th murder this year. There were 23 at this time last year.
