Multi-faith group celebrates Peace Day

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Multi-faith Council Of Northwest Ohio sponsored an event called Plant Peace on Saturday.

It is a local observance of the United Nations Peace Day.

It was held at the University Church in Toledo.

Multi- faith prayers for peace were said from eight faith traditions.

The event included the planting of fruit bearing peace tree, planting a peace pole and a garden tour.

This was the first times in several years that a local celebration of the United Nations peace day was held.

A UN resolution was passed in 2001 recognizing September 21 as Peace Day.
