Your guide to Oktoberfest Zinzinnati

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

The largest Oktoberfest celebration in America kicks off today in Zinzinnati!

Six blocks of Fifth Street are blocked off for more than 500,000 herren und frauen eating, singing, dancing and beer guzzling.

Oktoberfest Zinzinnati features seven stages with continuous live German music and more than 30 food vendors. And did we mention there's beer? More than 1.6 million ounces are consumed each year at Oktoberfest, which is the approximate capacity of a small microbrewery.

It's looking like a nice weather for Saturday and Sunday, so why not channel that inner German, fun-having self and chicken dance downtown?

Here's what you need to know:

When -

Friday, Sept. 20: 5 p.m.-midnight

Saturday, Sept. 21: 11 a.m.-midnight

Sunday, Sept. 22: 11 a.m.-10 p.m.

Where - Six blocks of Fifth Street, from Vine Street to Sentinel, in downtown Cincinnati. Click here for street closures in the area.

Parking - Fountain Square Garage for $10, and many other downtown garages. You could also try The Banks or Newport on the Levee, which will offer some Instagrammable views on your walk across the Purple People Bridge!

The Opening Ceremony and Keg Tapping starts at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, followed by the World's Largest Chicken Dance at 4 p.m., led by Zinzinnati grand marshal George Takei (oh my).

Sunday includes the Sam Adams Stein Hoisting Championship and the Hillshire Farm World Brat Eating Championship, so come hungry and thirsty.

The source of the Shiga Toxin-producing E. coli  has been investigated by the CDC and the FDA as coming from the area of Yuma, Arizona, so as long as the packaging of lettuce doesn’t say that, according to the health commissioner you’re most likely in the clear.

With so many job openings left unfilled, the disconnect comes down to a lack training and skill set with the job seekers, which is why groups like Ohio Means Jobs always offers group or individual classes.
