Victims of Troy Township home explosion identified

Someone close to the family has identified the two people who died in a Troy Township home explosion early Tuesday morning.

TROY TOWNSHIP, OH (Toledo News Now) - Someone close to the family has identified the two people who died in a Troy Township home explosion early Tuesday morning.

Killed were 65-year-old Jahn Richards and her son Andrew Schulte, according to the source.

Lucas County Deputy Coroner Dr. Cynthia Bisor says 37-year-old Andrew Schulte died of multiple injuries consistent with a home explosion.

Schulte died at Mercy St. Vincent's after he was flown there. Because he died in Lucas County, the Lucas County Coroner did the autopsy and reported the results.

Dr. Bisor says toxicology was ordered on Schulte and won't be done for several weeks but is not expected to be a factor in the case.

Perrysburg High School Principal Dr. Michael Short says Richards was an employee of the Wood County Educational Service Center who worked with special needs students at Perrysburg High School.

The two were killed, and three others injured, when their home in the 23000 block of Stony Ridge Road in Troy Township exploded early Tuesday morning. Investigators are still working to uncover what caused the massive explosion, which leveled the house.
