There really is a first time for everything.

Lucas County health inspectors found a cat resting on the bar at Jerry's Pub on Ash Street in north Toledo. It was one of four violations. Flies were also reported throughout the facility and some debris could be found under and behind equipment.

A few more violations tallied up at the Dorr Street Cafe in west Toledo. Its seven violations included dead pests in the storage area, a server preparing salads without gloves and general cleaning needed.

The McDonald's in the 800 block of Alexis Road in west Toledo racked up nine violations total. Employees were found wearing jewelry while preparing food, broken equipment was located throughout the facility, build-up was stuck in the ice machine and no soap was available at a hand sink, not to mention a number of grease stains discovered around the grill and under the fryers.

If your lunch or dinner plans take you to Maumee, Subway along the 1500 block of Main Street is violation free, along with Barron's Cafe on Airport Highway in Swanton. If you'd like to finish your day with a dessert, Apricato on Talmadge Road in west Toledo is another safe place to dine.
