Penta students hold memorial service for 9/11


Studentsat Penta Career Center had a special memorial service Wednesday for PatriotDay.

Itwas organized by students to remember nearly 3,000 people who lost their liveson Sept. 11, 2001.

"Iwas only four years old at the time," said Austin Fleck, a senior. "I was aKindergartner. I only remember being sent home."

Fleckspoke to nearly 100 people during the ceremony. He said for most of his life,the country has been at war. The wars influenced him to pursue a career incriminal justice.

"Itmade me think that I want to help people," he said. "I want to build up thepublic, and I would gladly put my life on the line to save others."

Manyin attendance couldn't hold back tears as ceremonial taps were played. Wood CountySheriff Mark Wasylyshyn spoke about how he volunteered in New York shortlyafter the attacks that gave the nation a stronger desire to wave the red, whiteand blue.
