Reality Check: Tracking Tri-State lawmakers on Syria

(FOX19) -

"Right now the American people are not persuaded. Right now, members of Congress who are just getting back still have questions. So we're going to have time to have a good deliberation in Congress. We will pursue this diplomatic track, "President Obama told FOX News Correspondent Chris Mathews. "I fervently hope this can be resolved in a non-military way."

President Obama is making his case to the American people for U.S. intervention in Syria.

The president has backed off his red line for military action, and now says he will allow for the possibility of a diplomatic solution. While a Congressional vote on military strikes has been delayed, it has not been ruled out.

The president has publicly acknowledged that the majority of the country does not support his call for air strikes against Syria and recent polls support that conclusion.

One survey has just 19% of the country backing President Obama. In another poll, three in four Americans say that bombing strategic targets will only make the current situation in the middle-east worse.

On Tuesday, Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell and Ohio Senator Rob Portman stated they will not support U.S. military action. Meanwhile, many Tri-State lawmakers remain either silent or undecided, including Ohio Representatives Steve Chabot and Brad Wenstrup.

If their votes matter to you, and if how they vote might impact how you vote in the next election, did you know you can track their votes along with every other Congressional lawmaker in the Tri-State?

OpenCongress.org follows every bill voted on in Congress listing every lawmaker's vote for and against, even those who abstain.

Prefer to use your smart phone? There's an app for that, too.

Thanks to the free 'Congress' app not only can you track votes, you can get to know your representative better and even contact them.

And that is Reality Check.
