HANCOCK COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) - Two Ohioans are facing felony charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized weed and marijuana plants during a traffic stop on Interstate 75 in Hancock County Saturday.
Troopers stopped a 1996 Ford Taurus with Ohio registration for speed and marked lanes violations on I-75 southbound near milepost 162 around 12:30 a.m. Criminal indicators were observed and a Hancock County Sheriff's drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle.
A probable cause search revealed more than a pound of marijuana and four marijuana plants concealed in a vacuum-sealed bag in a cooler inside the trunk. In addition, six Klonopin pills were located, along with a used syringe. The contraband has a street value of $16,916.
The driver, Rebecca Dunn, 21, of Laura, OH, and passenger, Robert Chura III, 26, of New Carlisle, OH, were incarcerated in the Hancock County Jail. They have both been charged with possession of marijuana, a fifth-degree felony, as well as possession of drug abuse instruments, a third-degree misdemeanor.
