Test results show Toledo water safe

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

After increased water testing following issues in northwest Ohio, city officials have confirmed there is no longer a concern for Toledo's drinking water.

The latest test results show extremely low levels of toxins produced by algae, which is drawn into the city's water treatment plant. Plant technicians discovered the toxin, microcystin, was slightly higher than what the city and Ohio Environmental Protection Agency like to see and reported it to the EPA Friday.

Officials want to stress that at no point was the water unsafe to drink.

Algae was found in Carroll Township's drinking water last week, which prompted concerns about other communities.
