TPD to release DNA results from Federal St Tuesday

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Elaina Steinfurth disappeared on June 2nd.

Since then, the rallying cry for finding the 18 month old East Toledo girl has been 'Bring Elaina Home.'

That all changed on Sunday.

It's now 'Justice For Elaina.'

And those words echoed through the streets of Downtown Toledo on Sunday.

It was, by far, the biggest and most emotional show of support for Elaina and the Steinfurth family.

"Just to support them as a community. Let them know we love them," said Kathy Granaham.

"Because this is not right what happened to Baby Elaina. It's not right at all," said Brenda Fesser.

Hundreds marched from the Lucas County Courthouse chanting 'Justice for Elaina', eventually taking their message to the nearby county jail.

They hoped two prisoners inside would hear them, Elaina's mother Angela and her former boyfriend Steven King.

Both are charged with obstruction of justice in connection with Elaina's disappearance.

"We're positive they have the body," said Elaina's cousin, Ross Finley, regarding a pivotal development in the case Thursday.

DNA results are pending on a body found in east Toledo. Toledo Police say they will release findings from the results Tuesday, after discussing them with the family and Prosecutor's Office.

Toledo Police confirmed skeletal remains found inside a box in a garage are those of a child.

"We got the body. But now it's on. We want everybody and anybody that's responsible," said Finley.

And that, they say, would be justice for Elaina.

After the march, there was a balloon release, a cheerful moment for family members and Elaina's dad Terry Steinfurth as they wait for DNA results.

"I don't think I'm prepared but I don't really think you can prepare for something like this," said  Steinfurth.

After double overtime, the Toledo Walleye came out on top and beat the Indy 3-2 Thursday night for a sweep in the series. Even though the fish had a 3-0 lead in the first round playoff series, the toughest thing to do in hockey is to beat a desperate team on their home ice.  Halfway through a second overtime Kyle Bonis sets up Christian Hillbrich to score the game winning goal.  The Walleye now advances to the second round.
