The thing to do this weekend in Cincy

It's the weekend, Cincinnati. Time to have some fun (Photo taken from Newport Central Catholic HS by Chris Lower). It's the weekend, Cincinnati. Time to have some fun (Photo taken from Newport Central Catholic HS by Chris Lower).
CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Have you ever been on hold with Time Warner Cable?

Sometimes you get a pre-recorded voice sharing useless, but interesting facts. One of those facts is something to the extent of, "the world is ___% happier on Friday."

Whatever the percentage is, I believe it. Work, work, work all week long. Once Friday rolls around, the anticipation is just plain distracting.

It's the weekend, Cincinnati. Time to have some fun.

The Big Red Machine's "Great Eight" will reunite this weekend at Great American Ball Park! Yep. Pete Rose, Johnny Bench, Tony Perez, Dave Concepcion, George Foster, Ken Griffey, Sr. and Cesar Geronimo are celebrating baseball's greatest second baseman during the Red's Joe Morgan Weekend. Ticket info here: reds.com/Morgan.

The #HottestCollegeinAmerica is welcoming WALK THE MOON, a band with Queen City roots, to headline UC's annual fall concert 'Red and Black Bash' on Friday night. President Santa Ono even grooved his way through campus in a lip dub video to promote the show: http://bit.ly/12TwQR5

Maybe you're just in the mood for a good ol' fashioned, world-class comic book convention. Good news... There is one. The 2013 Cincinnati ComiCon is Friday through Sunday at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center in Covington. One, two and three-day passes are available. Kids 12 & under are free with paid adult admission.

While you're in the area, check out the 35th annual MainStrasse Village Oktoberfest. A mix of German/international foods, music, and art with approximately 125,000 of your closest friends. There's even a Kinderplatz for the kiddos with rides and the 'Amusement Midway'. Friday and Saturday until 11:30 PM, and Sunday until 9 PM.

Lastly, if you haven't been to OTR's Second Sunday on Main this year, you should probably go. An 'eclectic neighborhood festival' selling food, vintage duds, beer, etc. It's held on the second Sunday of every month from June to October (and named accordingly so you never forget). Find it on Main Street between 13th and Liberty from noon to 5 PM. Plus, it's FREE to attend.

That's the thing to do. TGIF: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDVW81bXo0s
