Poker run benefit Saturday for man killed in hit and run

Memorial set up for Alexander. Memorial set up for Alexander.
TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Jason Alexander was killed doing something he loved: riding his motorcycle. Now his friends are honoring him the best way they know how.

Alexander, 32, was a father of five and a husband. He did custom paint jobs on cars and motorcycles.

On Aug. 21, while on a ride, he was hit and killed by David Robinson. Robinson fled the scene, but was later arrested by police.

Now friends and family are organizing a poker run for Saturday, Sept. 7, to raise money for Alexander's family. Registration for the run begins at noon at El Camino, and the day will end with a car and truck show at Chuck's.

"He was a very good person. You could love Jason the minute you ever met him," said Ken Luna, a friend. "We just really, really want to help his family out. He would do it for any one of us and we want to do it for him…He loved to ride his bike, so we'd love to have every bike we can possibly get out here."

A fund has also been set up in Alexander's name at Fifth Third banks.
