Enrollment up at Lenawee County colleges

ADRIAN, MI (Toledo News Now) -

Enrollmentis up at the two major colleges in Lenawee County. Both Sienna HeightsUniversity and Adrian College say they have more students on campus this year.

"Itcertainly has infused the campus with real energy," said Trudy Mohre, directorof undergraduate admissions at Sienna Heights. "We're really feeling thatmomentum right now."

Thereare more first-year students enrolled at Sienna Heights than ever before. AtAdrian College, the incoming class has more than 500 students for the seventhyear in a row.

SiennaHeights officials say word-of-mouth and a more focused marketing techniquecould be the reason for their increased enrollment. They are working to targetstudents from Detroit and Toledo areas, especially students from Catholic highschools.

"We'reseeing a larger feed from that particular group," said Mohre.

Studentssay they're excited about the growth and what it means for them.

"Ithelps you grow as a person, not seeing the same people every day, and you learnto adapt to an environment like that," said Willis Sowle.

Leadersat Adrian College say they believe their growth is due to an improved website, programs and activities.
