Troopers find $20K of liquid Codeine in juice bottles

HANCOCK COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Two men are facing felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers found liquid Promethazine Codeine, worth more than $20,000, during a traffic stop in Hancock County.

Troopers stopped a Nissan Altima with Michigan registration on Interstate 75 near milepost 160 for a speed violation. Troopers suspected the driver was impaired and other criminal indicators were observed. The Hancock County Sheriff's Office responded and their canine alerted to the vehicle.

A probable cause search revealed four large jugs of Promethazine Codeine in the back seat weighing 14.4 pounds.

The driver, Sir George Strozier, 20, of Atlanta, and passenger, Eddie James Heckard Jr., 27, of Toledo, were incarcerated in the Hancock County Justice Center. They have been charged with possession of a schedule III substance, a third-degree felony. Strozier was also charged with OVI.
