25th annual Model T Jamboree Tour stops in Pemberville

PEMBERVILLE, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Model T Jamboree Tour stopped in Pemberville Friday.

Hosted by the Maumee Valley Ts, nearly 125 models and 300 guests took over the village. Cars parked behind the downtown business district along the Portage River so guests could walk around and take their time to enjoy the historical vehicles and speak with owners.

Some models are so old you have to crank them to get the engine running.

Ken Gierach and his baby blue model arrived in style all the way from Cincinnati. He warns others not to be fooled by the year of his model (1926) because it's still fast - or so he thinks.

"I've had this for about 15 years. We used to race on dirt tracks with them fairground tracks," said Gierach.

Gierach says buying a Model T can set you back $15,000, which is why he built his from the ground up with a little more flair than others. He says he picked the color because his wife liked it.

But the baby blue beauty wasn't the only showstopper. Wood exteriors, red rims, and even a yellow model were on display.

Still, the most popular choice was classic black, with plush leather seats that reminded even the youngest of fans about the days when the Model T was king. 1927 was the last year Model Ts were manufactured.

The Pemberville-Freedom Area Historical Society and Pemberville Independent Merchants Association hosted the group and offered tours of the Pemberville Opera House, Pemberville Depot, Riverbank Antique Market, Beeker's General Store and Pember-Furry House and One Room School.

Otterbein Portage Valley offered complimentary shuttle service between venues.

After Pemberville, the tour will head east on state Route 105.
