Donations, volunteers needed for Wood County’s Project Homeless

WOOD COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Project Homeless is a brand new, in-depth initiative coming to Wood County.

It will be a one day, one-stop-shop where people can get the tools and help they need to get back on their feet. In order to make that happen, food pantries need help stocking their shelves. Food, money, personal care items and business attire are all welcomed donations.

The event is about seven weeks away, but preparations are in full swing. Organizers still need 75 volunteers to help serve people of all ages. They say this will be the most ambitious event in the history of Wood County.

"The services that day include seeing a doctor, seeing a dentist, getting legal assistance, food," said Jennifer Kephart, from Habitat for Humanity. "A hot meal is going to be served all day. When you leave, you're going to leave with a hot meal and a bag of groceries, a coat for winter, and a friendship."
