Donations, volunteers needed for Wood County’s Project Homeless

WOOD COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

ProjectHomeless is a brand new, in-depth initiative coming to Wood County.

Itwill be a one day, one-stop-shop where people can get the tools and help theyneed to get back on their feet. In order to make that happen, food pantriesneed help stocking their shelves. Food, money, personal care items and businessattire are all welcomed donations.

Theevent is about seven weeks away, but preparations are in full swing. Organizersstill need 75 volunteers to help serve people of all ages. They say this willbe the most ambitious event in the history of Wood County.

"Theservices that day include seeing a doctor, seeing a dentist, getting legalassistance, food," said Jennifer Kephart, from Habitat for Humanity. "A hotmeal is going to be served all day. When you leave, you're going to leave witha hot meal and a bag of groceries, a coat for winter, and a friendship."
