The 50th anniversary of MLK's 'I Have a Dream' speech, the Fort Hood shooter's sentencing and the secretary of state's harsh words for Syria all made headlines this week. The 50th anniversary of MLK's 'I Have a Dream' speech, the Fort Hood shooter's sentencing and the secretary of state's harsh words for Syria all made headlines this week.

(RNN) - Thousands came out to Washington, DC, this week to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech and the March on Washington.

President Barack Obama spoke in front of a huge crowd at the Lincoln Memorial, calling for everyone to remember King's words and continue to work towards racial harmony.

Maj. Nidal Hasan received the death penalty after a jury convicted him of killing 13 and injuring more than 30 others at the Army base in Fort Hood, TX, in 2009.

U.S. government officials have concluded that the Syrian government used chemical weapons against its own people. The president said he is considering a military strike against the Syrian government.
