Firefighters rescue construction worker in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Springfield firefighters used a scissor-lift Thursday morning to help rescue a construction worker at Springfield Technical Community College.

Officials tell CBS 3 the victim was working in the boiler room of the college when he suffered what appeared to be a head injury. The injury occurred while the worker was in an evaluated confined space.

The accident was reported around 7:30 a.m. The worker was trapped around 15 to 20 feet above the ground.

He was taken to Baystate Medical Center. He is expected to be OK.
