New rehabilitation center for Kingston Healthcare

PERRYSBURG, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The brand new, $10 million rehabilitation facility at the Kingston Healthcare Center in Perrysburg has opened its doors.

The 3 stories high, 55,000 square foot building can hold 32 in-patients, and can provide for out-patient care as well.

The Kingston Residence Assisted Living Center has been in Perrysburg for about 16 years, but it just received a new neighbor, the new rehab center.

It's not only for those who are living next door, but the rehab center is open for the entire community.

The first floor is where daily activities will take place, the second is the bedrooms. It has a 5,000 square foot gym, and a warm salt water pool. There's a bistro and a dietary manager on staff. Rooms are equipped with piped-in oxygen and have their own private bathrooms.

"The orthopedic patient, the neurological patient, but also the patient that's generally de-conditioned due to some type of other medical condition," said Neil Nieckarz, the Director of Rehab Services.

"So when a patient comes to the center, they're going to expect that they're going to receive top-notch physical occupational speech, but also top-notch clinical care from nursing," said Administrator Christine Blackmore. "We have staffed the center with completely all registered nurses to provide that care, along with that hiring our own nurse practitioner."

Right now, the second and third floors are complete, and by December or January, they plan to have the third floor done, which will add another 28 units.
