Mercy Children’s Hospital room unveiled after makeover

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The wait is over. Patients at Mercy Children's Hospital got to see the extreme makeover of the infusion room revealed Monday.

"All of this hard work has been so worth it, and we're so excited to be able to do this for these kids," said Kele Pallitta, founder of Comforting Hearts, the organization that did the makeover.

From new glitter-painted walls and carpet, to new televisions, toys and video games, the patients now have a comfortable place to escape while receiving chemotherapy treatments.

"It's really, really nice for them to donate their time and donate all the supplies and all the extra stuff," said Savannah Bisson, a patient.

Vera Snyder's daughter Julie receives blood transfusions every three weeks at Mercy. Snyder was overwhelmed with the room.

"It's white and not gloomy, and you're not just sitting here being bored," she said. "There's stuff for everybody to do."

Comforting Hearts says their goal is to put smiles on the faces of children fighting cancer. From the looks at the unveiling, mission accomplished.
