Alcohol believed to be a factor in accident that left woman trapped under SUV

STARK COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -

Authorities say alcohol may have been a factor in an overnight crash that sent two people to the hospital Sunday morning.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol in Canton, the crash happened on Columbus Road east of Paris Ave. in Nimishillen Township just before 2 a.m. Sunday.

Police say Bruno Lindo, 24, of Alliance and Lindsay Costa, 22, of Alliance were driving in Lindo's 1997 Ford Explorer along Columbus Road when Lindo lost control of the vehicle and went off the road.

Lindo then swerved back onto the roadway and the SUV flipped over.

During the accident, Coasta was ejected from the vehicle, and became trapped underneath the front of the SUV.

She was rushed to Aultman Hospital where she is being treated for a serious injury to her leg.

Bruno Lindo was also transported to Aultman Hospital with minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation; no charges have been filed.
