Perrysburg students receive laptops this year

PERRYSBURG, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Perrysburg students are in for a treat this school year. They'll have the latest forms of technology right in the classroom.

Parents lined up to get their students' new gadgets on Wednesday. Students in fifth through eighth grades at Perrysburg Schools will receive Chromebooks, every ninth-grader will receive a Macbook Air.

Even the teachers get in on the action – many of them will receive new iPads.

Students will be able to take their devices home over night and in the summer. Parents say this is a great way to tap into the new wave of education.

"The world is competing in technology, so getting these youngsters exposed to it will give them a leg up in competing with students around the globe," said Du Nguyen, a Perrysburg parent.

A total of 1,200 laptops were distributed throughout the district.

After 3 straight days of downpours our pattern will briefly turn colder Thursday and Friday, allowing for a wintry mix to move back in. The ice threat is centered on the morning commute Thursday, especially south of Toledo. While large amounts of ice are not likely, it only takes a thin layer to cause problems. More >>
