BGSU renovations almost ready for school year

BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Nearly $15 million worth of construction projects are wrapping up at Bowling Green State University, but will they be done in time for the new school year?

Hundreds of students will move to campus next week. Many of those will call the newly-renovated McDonald Hall their new home. Construction crews are putting the finishing touches on the $10.5 million project.

Students will enjoy new common areas and kitchens. All furniture is brand new and easier to move around, so students can customize their rooms. But there's more for students to be excited about, as well.

"I'm just really excited because…I'll be in new air conditioning, so I won't have to crank my AC on, like, a thousand degrees," said incoming freshman Frances Keller.

New students say the renovations and new buildings make the school more attractive.

"My mom and I were just walking by, and we noticed the new dorm building," said Mackenzie Cotsmire. "We noticed all the new updates and stuff and it's actually really nice."

Across campus, the new Falcon Health Center is getting ready for an open house. It cost $5 million to build, and will be operated by the Wood County Hospital. It includes a drive-through pharmacy.

"It makes me feel that I can only travel such a short distance to get there and get situated with my medicines," said Cotsmire.

Students say they're looking forward to making memories in the new buildings.
