Group readying downtown Rossford for upcoming event

ROSSFORD, OHIO (TOLEDO NEWS NOW) -

Someresidents in Rossford say they want to see more flowers and landscapingdowntown, so one group is working to make that happen.

Thecity's beautification committee is working to get downtown ready for two bigcity-wide events. The city will kick off its first ever Strolling Downtownevent on August 24, along with the Rossford Riverfest.

StrollingDowntown was created to help promote downtown Rossford businesses. It will besimilar to a scavenger hunt. People will receive a map of the participatingbusinesses, and visit each one.

"Weresearched it," said Kathy Kornasiewicz, from the committee. "We were kind oflooking at each other and saying, ‘We don't even know where these businessesare,' so it's a way to get to know the businesses."

Sofar, the beautification committee has planted more than 200 flowers and bulbsdowntown, but they want to do more. Organizers say keeping the communitylooking great will increase property values and keep businesses from leaving.
