3 hurt when car swerves to avoid bicycle in Central Toledo

Three people were taken to the hospital Wednesday afternoon when a car swerved to avoid a bicycle and hit the side of a viaduct.

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - Three people were taken to the hospital Wednesday afternoon when a car swerved to avoid a bicycle and hit the side of a viaduct.

The accident happened around 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of Hawley Street and Whittier Street in central Toledo. Police say the driver swerved to avoid a bicyclist and wedged the vehicle between the side of the viaduct and a vertical support beam.

Two people inside the vehicle were taken to an area hospital with minor injuries. The bicyclist was also hospitalized and had more serious injuries. None of the injuries in the accident are considered life threatening.

It is unclear if the car actually hit the bicyclist.
