Back to school jitters

It's time for kids to head back to school and for many of them this might be the first time on a school bus, in a classroom, or with a lot of other kids.

Dr. Victoria Kelley, a Psychiatrist with Toledo Success and Wellness, stopped by Your Day with some helpful tips on how parents can make their kids feel more comfortable.

Here are some tips for sending your child back to school:

  • Make sure that your child gets enough sleep. Children should get at least 8 hours.
  • Feed your child a health breakfast before sending them out the door.
  • Parents should practice a morning routine 2 to 3 weeks before school starts.
  • If your child is nervous to go back to school, see if you can set up a tour for them to feel more comfortable.
  • Stay positive! If you are happy and make it a fun experience, they will feel the same way you do.
