BGSU Police swears in 6 new recruits

BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Six new police officers were sworn in Thursday at Bowling Green State University, just in time for the new school year.

Diversity played a big role in hiring the new officers. Chief Monica Moll wanted to make sure the incoming group is reflective of the student body.

"With the addition of these two, that will be five female officers, in a total of 25 sworn," said Moll.

Jennifer Scherry has been working toward this badge for 10 years. As a female officer and a BGSU alumna, she says she can better identify with students.

"I can talk to people more often," Scherry said. "I definitely feel more confident being here."

Bryan Wynn comes from a family of officers. He says this is a dream come true for him.

"[I'm] just doing my best to be very useful within the community, setting a good example," he said. I truly feel like Bowling Green State University is the right place for me."
