Ivy Bridge College in Maumee to close

MAUMEE, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Tiffin University announced it plans to discontinue the Maumee-based Ivy Bridge College as of October 20 due to policy changes. This will be the second local college to close.

In 2007, Tiffin University (TU) and Altius Education created a joint venture to provide support services to TU's online Associate's Degree programs at Ivy Bridge College. The joint venture was structured to meet the requirements of TU's accrediting agency, the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).

In the past couple of years, the HLC changed certain policies and procedures. Now Ivy Bridge College does not meet those policies, so by October 20, the online degree will be discontinued.

Students who are currently enrolled have three options: They can transfer to TU's online or seated Bachelor's programs, they can transfer to another college or university that offers the online Associate Degree, or go to any institution that accepts them.

TU officials say they will continue to offer Associate Degrees on their campus, and may consider offering them online at some point in the future.
