Non-profit unveils affordable housing in N. Ky.

BELLEVUE, KY (FOX19) -

A Covington non-profit organization unveiled new affordable housing options Tuesday in Northern Kentucky.

Housing Opportunities of Northern Kentucky (HONK) hosted an open house to celebrate the completion of two renovated homes on Taylor Avenue in Bellevue.

"Our mission involves more than just fixing up homes," said David Hastings, HONK's Executive Director. "It is really about transforming lives, helping people succeed as homeowners, and at the same time, revitalizing neighborhoods."

Two families have been selected as the future homeowners from a pool of applicants.

The homes were renovated by local contractors and HONK volunteers, in addition to financial support from The Bank of Kentucky, The R.C. Durr Foundation, Toyota, Macy's Foundation and more.

HONK has rehabbed 75 homes and built 33 more in Northern Kentucky over the past 21 years, creating affordable  homeownership opportunities for local families.
