SANDUSKY COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred on U.S. Route 6 in Sandusky County around 8:40 a.m. Tuesday.

Troopers say Robby Adkins, 35, of Port Clinton, was driving a 1994 Buick LeSabre eastbound on US-6 approaching the intersection of County Road 260, while James Baird, 57, of Arlington, OH, was driving a 2000 Mack commercial truck westbound. Adkins drove left of center and struck Baird's truck head on, sending both vehicles off the south side of US-6 before coming to rest.

Adkins was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers say he was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation.

US-6 was closed for about four hours while emergency crews assisted at the scene.
