Shots fired during car chase in west Toledo Monday morning

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A car chase early Monday morning involved gun shots and has left a west Toledo neighborhood shaken.

According to police reports, Myron Carr was dropping a friend off when he noticed he was being followed by a dark Dodge truck. The truck began to chase Carr's Chevy Impala.

Carr drove south on Lewis, then Haverhill, and onto I-75 South. When he reached the Monroe overpass, Carr ditched his vehicle and ran into the backyard of a house on Glenwood Avenue. He reported that during the chase, he was being shot at.

Police were called to the Old West End house on a report of a suspicious male. They found Carr, and then found his vehicle with seven bullet holes in it.

"We heard a horrible noise. It sounded like someone was coming through the house, through the front windows," said a woman who lives in the area of Lewis and Elenor, where police found multiple shell casings. "You want to tell yourself that this can happen anywhere, but this area seems to be getting worse."

Carr was unable to provide a number of suspects or any kind of description. Whoever was shooting at him is still on the loose.

"Nobody's life is important to that person. They need to be caught," said the woman, who wished to remain anonymous. "Nothing around them mattered at that point."

The chase is still under investigation.

     The Toledo Police Department is searching for a 13-year-old boy who has been missing since Wednesday.  Police say Jordan Phillips was last seen on Wednesday around 2 p.m. Police say Phillips was supposed to be at the East Toledo Community Center around that time, but never showed up.  He is described as a white male standing at 5'3" and weighing 120 pounds.
