WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) -

A man is charged with a domestic violence after a five hour standoff with police at a West Chester home early Sunday morning.

Police received a call from a female living at a home on the 7100 block of Douglas Street around 2:30 a.m. saying that she was a victim of domestic violence.

Authorities arrived to the home and tried to communicate with the woman. Police say that Christopher Petty, 31, refused to allow the woman to leave the home or let the police enter.

A SWAT team was called to the incident and negotiated with Petty for nearly five hours. Petty let the woman go and was arrested by police between 7:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.

The woman was unharmed and did not require medical treatment.

Petty is currently facing charges and is in custody at the Butler County Jail.
